Brief photographic drift between stalls
and evening atmospheres

In the twilight of a late September afternoon, I embraced the vibrant energy of the small town of Thionville in the Lorraine region of France. Thionville, steeped in history and surrounded by picturesque landscapes, manifests itself as a crossroads of tradition and modernity. Founded in Roman times, the city has prospered through the centuries, preserving an architectural heritage that tells stories of bygone eras. Its cobbled streets, lively squares and picturesque house facades are the stage for a daily life that develops harmoniously with its rich heritage.

The moment was particularly significant, as the Wednesday market was about to close, giving the town a unique and fascinating atmosphere. Outdoor conviviality gave way to indoor activities: the stalls still open offered a final dance of sounds and scents. The atmosphere was full of emotions, from the chatter of the locals to the laughter of the children who savoured the last moments of freedom before the evening.

This photographic drift was an opportunity to capture Thionville in a moment of transition when the market frenzy intertwined with the serenity of the sunset in an evocative dance at the twilight of a Wednesday.

Metz at sunset: photographic drift between
history, culture and student life

In the delicate balance of the late September afternoon, I immersed myself in the lively and enterprising atmosphere of the city of Metz in the Grand Est region of France.

Metz, steeped in history and renowned for its Gothic cathedrals and architecture reminiscent of Teutonic domination, reveals a vibrant and cosmopolitan soul. With its cobbled streets and lively squares, the city is a fascinating mix of ancient and modern.

The cathedrals, of which the majestic Saint-Ɖtienne Cathedral stands out, testify to centuries of history and impressive architecture.

However, Metz is also a university city, and this is reflected in the lively squares and alleys and in the frenetic lives of the students. As evening falls, students invade the squares and clubs along the Moselle. The atmosphere becomes electric, permeated with laughter, music, and youthful vitality.

Metz transforms into a fascinating night scene, with the lights reflecting on the river's waters and the city returning to life.

This photographic drift was an opportunity to capture Metz in a moment of transition when the late afternoon light merges with the evening lights.
