Reflective Account 1

The idea of an external project based on recursion was appreciated. I received exciting advice and suggestions for "variations on the theme".

For example, I was told that a student placed an exhibition in an inaccessible place (probably an abandoned site). Then, he simply took photos of the exhibition in situ. Nobody apart from himself could ever see the complete exhibition.

This idea has more meaning and content than simply " denying " a work's exposure to the public viewer.

All of this ties in with what my Tutor said, advising me to clarify why I would display my images this way.

Why do I take a photograph? Why do I show it to others? Why this way?

This stimulated my intimate reasoning about what the ultimate goal of my urban wandering and my act of photographic performance is.

Given that I do not consider finalising the photographic shot to show the outcome to others as a dogma, I am nevertheless convinced that the final destination of an artistic work is an exhibition.

While I don't feel the need to inform others about the emotions and reactions that caused my shot, I do feel the desire for others to see it and have their own emotions and reactions.

In the case mentioned above, the final image will contain, as a "component", the image displayed on the inaccessible site. In this way, the artist will determine a gap between his experience (the first photo on the inaccessible site, the photo of the photo in the inaccessible site) and that of the viewer, who will only see the final product of this performance.

Do I want this result too?
